Therapies

Thirty-eight years ago, I began practicing Shiatsu massage with Dr. Mitsuharu Tsuchiya at his Preventive Medicine Clinic in Lisbon. I still maintain contact with him, continuing to learn and deepen my knowledge.

Throughout this journey, I have combined this practice with my training and professional work as an architect.

At the same time, I dedicated many years to personal development through meditation and bioenergetics, acquiring skills in active meditation and yoga.

About seven years ago, I decided to pursue this vocation more deeply. I graduated in Integrated Massage within the Traditional Chinese Medicine course and complemented my journey with various training programs, namely in deep relaxation massage, sound therapy, active meditation, and Tibetan Therapeutic Yoga (Lujong).

This has been a continuous path of learning and growth, which I intend to continue developing with dedication.

With gratitude for the gift I have received, I strive to give my best each day.

Lujong Tibetan Therapeutic Yoga

  • Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage offers physical and psychological benefits. It can relieve muscle pain and stiffness and provide relaxation that relieves stress from the body and mind.

It is a massage technique used to treat musculoskeletal problems, such as strains or contractures. It involves sustained application with slow, deep movements to reach the inner layers of muscles and connective tissues. It does not necessarily imply that you feel pain as the movements are applied slowly in order to reach the deepest tissue of the muscle and in the direction of the muscle’s movement.

It can also promote faster healing by increasing blood flow, lymphatic circulation and range of motion, reducing inflammation. Application is made with essential oils to promote painless friction and better results.

  • Shiatsu Massage

It is a therapeutic massage technique originating from Japan, the term “Shiatsu” means finger pressure.

Treatment that, by applying pressure with the thumbs and palms on certain points of the body, corrects disharmonies, maintains and improves health, contributes to alleviating various pathologies and activates the body’s self-healing capacity.

Its mechanism of action is based on a stimulus on specific energy accumulation sites found along the meridians. Like acupuncture, shiatsu is based on the principle of the existence of energy channels in the body (meridians) and vital energy flows (ki). These are responsible for balance and health. In other words, through digital massage and/or stimulation of shiatsu points, stretching and pressure movements in certain areas of the body, this therapy aims to reestablish the body’s energy flows, ensuring its proper functioning.

It is an excellent prevention massage that helps the self-regulation mechanism, providing more health and strength to the body, increasing the joy of living, through energetic and physical rebalancing.

Traditional Shiatsu is done on a mat, on the floor, in a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment. The therapist moves around the patient and at ground level. The patient receives the massage dressed, preferably in comfortable clothing.

  • Japanese Foot Reflexology Sokutei Massage

The Japanese word “Sokutei” means “soles of the feet”. This is what the massage technique applied to reflex areas of the feet that correspond to organs and systems of the body is called in Japan.

It is an ancient technique that forms part of integrative health to take care of health through the feet.

By gently massaging or pressing on special areas of your foot, you can relieve pain, improve energy balance, maintain relaxation and stimulate blood circulation. Improving your physical, emotional and mental health.

This massage technique is done on a couch. The areas covered are the feet and legs up to the knees. After a massage session it is possible to feel a lightness in the feet, which extends to the entire body, transmitting a true sensation of physical and mental well-being.

  • Massage with Tibetan bowls, a traditional method from the Himalayas

The art of healing with Tibetan Bowls is as old as the art of making them. This wisdom is passed down from generation to generation, especially in Tibet, India and Nepal.

Through vibration and sound, information about relaxation and well-being is transmitted to the brain. The sound of the cup has an effect on the body’s electromagnetic field. The vibrations of the bowls resemble alpha waves and sometimes theta or delta waves. In this way, it is thought that the brain can somehow recognize these vibration waves and start emitting predominantly alpha waves. The entire organism will be in harmony at the end of the treatment. Good for reducing stress, anxiety, muscle pain.

The sound massage is done on a mat, on the floor, in a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment. The therapist moves around the patient and at ground level. The patient receives the massage dressed, preferably in comfortable clothing.

  • Lujong Tibetan Therapeutic Yoga

Lu jong, is therapeutic Tibetan Yoga, a practice with around 8000 years of existence based on the knowledge of Tibetan medicine: through a combination of position, movement and breathing, Lu jong opens the body’s channels to reestablish the proper flow of energy .

Lu means body and Jong means transformation, their regular practice transforms body and mind. The continuous movement of exercises and deep breathing transmits to the body greater physical resistance, strength, more refined senses, more natural shine, more youthfulness.

Its permanent practice works like a moving meditation, reducing anxiety and stress levels.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES DO NOT REPLACE MEDICAL CARE. IT IS RESPONSIBLE TO SEE YOUR DOCTOR REGULARLY, TO HAVE PERIODIC EXAMINATIONS TO OBTAIN DIAGNOSIS AND PRESCRIPTIONS ACCORDING TO YOUR NEEDS.
